“Much of the information on births, marriages and deaths have been taken from a copy of a family bible sent to the authors by Becky Henderson of Irving, TX. The original bible is in very poor condition with some pages torn out, others smudged and therfore difficult to read; however, the two pages of births, one page of marriages and one page of deaths reveal a great amount of genealogical information. The bible records cover data on William Gant and his children, as well as, the children and some grandchildren of his son, William Henry Gant, who was probably the original owner of the bible. All but a few persons whose data was entered in this bible have been identified from other records. These unidentified persons are: Enoch, born 29 Jul 1855; Burill, born 11 Dec 1856; Daniel, born 2 Aug 1858 (these three with no surname were written on a separate page not headed and might have been slaves); Martha, born 22 Jan 18?? (who might also have been a slave) and Jourdan Allan Gant, born 28 Jan 18??”
