Someone, somewhere, had asked about this group - but I have misplaced the original request. Landon NEWELL b ca 1759 in Ireland d 1820 in KY - he married Mary (maiden name unk) children:

4. Landay P. Newell b 29 Jul 1784 in Wythe Co, VA - died 1871 (place unk) - he married 1) a woman named Margaret (her maiden name is still under debate) who was born 1788 in VA and d 1840 (place unk)

Patricia--Isn't it wonderful that the name Landon (Landy) seems to be so popular? Makes genealogy so interesting!!! Let me tell you what I know about the Newells and various Landys--Landon Newell b. circa 1759 maybe in Ireland married Mary ? about 1779. He died in KY in 1820 and they had at least four children: John N. b. about 178- died before 1831, married Temperance Bastin; Leannan b. about 1781 in Wythe Co., Va died in Pulaski Co. about 1851, married Burrell Lay on Nov. 13, 1804 in Rockingham Co., VA, Anne, born about 1782 married Jacob Mine in 1811, Landon b. 29 July 1784 in Wythe Co., VA., died in Pulaski Co., KY in 1871, married twice--Margaret Nichols on Sept 10, 1810, then Margaret Hendricks on Nov. 12, 1846. This Landy, the one you're asking about had at least 10 children with his first wife, Margaret. I'm not sure that there were any children with the second wife. Children--not all confirmed were Nancy, b. about 1810, married 6 April, 1835 to Jefferson Baugh, Hellender b. about 1811, married 13 July, 1843 to Harrison Baugh, Jane. b. about 1813, Jeremiah b. about 1815, married 15 Oct, 1836 to Levina Loveall, Hardin Bruce b. 22 August, 1815 died 2 Jan, 1883, married three times: 1. Cyrene Kelly 25 August, 1835, 2. Jane Surber on 9 Feb., 1847, Cyrena Bryant on 26 April, 1870; Solomon b. 13 May, 1818, died 15 March, 1893, married Elizabeth Dick on 27 March, 1843; William Hardin b. 11 July 1822, died 18 Oct. 1899 in Pulaski Co., KY married 1)Sophia Vaught on 27 April, 1844, 2) Nancy Vaught on 29 August 1869; Elizabeth b. about 1828 married Thomas M. Jones on 27 Nov, 1859, Jesse Chappel b. 30 April, 1827in Mt. Gilead, KY, married Margaret Ann Durham on March 27, 1847, died on August 2, 1915 in Nevada (Vernon), Missouri [this is my Newell connection], Landy G.W., b. 5 Dec., 1830, died 18 March, 1904 in Pulaski Co., married Clarissa Clara Baugh on 17 Dec., 1849, the Charlotta Settles on 28 Oct, 1888, then Mary Brown on 20 March 1898; Margaret b. about 1834; Frances b. about 1836 married John Ramsey on 19 Sept, 1864; Niva or Nina, b. about 1839. The 1850 census does not list the following children, but the 1860 census does--maybe grandchildren? James b. about 1844, Mary, b. about 1846. There are still other Newells that may be children, but these are pretty certain. I can put you in contact with lots of Newell cousins throughout the U.S. Hope this helps. Susan

Another web site asserts that the parents of John, Leannah, Ann and Landon Newell were John Newell and Jane Bell, who were married 1 October 1777 in Montgomery Co VA.1149 I do not have confidence in this source, which shows Landon Newell being b. 29 July 1784 and d. 18 March 1904.
