Mrs. Lucinda Knowles departed this life February 1, 1919, aged 80 years, 1 month and 3 days.
Mrs. Knowles, whose maiden name was Lucinda Allison, was born in Davis county, Indiana, December 28, 1838. At the age of seven years she removed with her parents to Gibson county, Ind.. and settled near Poseyville. Here she grew to womanhood and Novem ber 14, 1861, was united in marriage to Francis A. Knowles. To this union were born eight children, six of whom, three daughters and three sons survive. She was a member of the M. E. church more than sixty years and so strong was her faith in God's promises that to her death was only a passing from the trials of earth to the joys of heaven.
The body was brought to Neodesha and taken to the home of her stepdaughter, Mrs. M. J. Cameron, where funeral services were held, conducted by Rev. W. M. Balch of the Methodist church, after which she was laid to rest beside her husband who passed away June 3, 1915.
We mourn her not as dead but as one gone before to welcome us, when we, too, must answer the summons that shall come to each of us. Contributed.
