JACOB E. GILE. 1157

Jacob E. Gile was born in Lebanon, Indiana, May 21 1845, and departed this life March 3, 1920, at the age of 74 years, 9 months and 12 days.

When he was 9 years of age he moved to Iowa with his parents and lived there "until he enlisted in the Civil War, in Co. B. 13th Iowa Infantry.

He was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Antle June 29, 1868, at Newton, Iowa. To this union eight children were born, 7 boys and 1 daughter. The daughter and 2 sons dying, in infancy.

Besides the wife who has been in poor health for some time he leaves five sons, Anderson of Baxter Springs; Thomas, of Marysville, Mo.; Edmond, of Fort Scott; Joseph, of Homestead, Okla.; Earnest, of Kansas City Mo. Two brothers, James of Wellington, Kansas; Joseph, of South Haven, Kansas. Two sisters, Mrs. Katie Brown, of Skidmore, Mo.; and Mrs. Becky Sparks, of Grinella, Iowa; and 10 grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn their loss.

He professed religion and joined the Missionary Baptist church at Laybetta, Mo., about 25 years ago and was truly a good man.

In his death the wife has lost a true and faithful companion, his children a loving father, the church a good and worthy member and the community a kind neighbor, loved and respected by all who knew him.

Funeral services - were conducted from the home on Twentieth street at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon by the Rev. A. L. Jones of Miami, Okla., and interment was made, in the Greenlawn cemetery.

Weep not dear wife and children as for one who has no hope but live to meet him where parting will be no more.

Oh! Father how we miss you,
A place is vacant in our Home,
That never' can be filled.
Your gentle voice no more we hear,
For Jesus with his tender love,
Has come and called you home.

Mrs. Sarah E. Gile, of this city, died April 8, 1921. She was born in Newton, Iowa, Oct. 29, 1852. On June 3, 1868, she was married to Jacob E. Gile and to this union eight children were born, seven boys and one girl. Three of the children died in infancy. Five sons survive her, Will A. Gile, of Baxter, Samuel T. Gilo, Maryville, Mo., Edmond P. Gile, Ft. Scott, Kan., Jacob F. Gile, Homestead, Okla., and Earnest E. Gile, of Kansas City, Mo. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren.

The brothers and sisters who survive are Levi Antic, William Antic, N'athaniel Antle, Ezra Antic, all of Vewton, Iowa, Mrs. Matilda Hadley, Hlackwcll. Okla.. and Mrs. Emma Ad-kins, Marshalltown, Iowa.
