CARLOS M’CARTY, PROSECUTOR. DIES
Washington Attorney Had Named Successor Deputy - Known for Record. WASHINGTON. Ind., November 25 fSp!.) – Carlos T. McCarty, Shoals. prosecutor for. the Davies-Martln county circuit, died Sunday at the Daviess Count. Hospital here, after two weeks illness.
Mr. McCarty, a practicing attorney in Shoals for many years and at one time identified with various weekly newspapers in Daviess and Martin counties, was completing a two-year term as prosecutor. In May, of this year, he was a Democratic candidate for circuit judge.
He continued as prosecutor, but several weeks ago was stricken while in court, and from that time his health failed.
It was learned at the hospital that his recovery was virtually impossible.
Successor Deputy.Prior to entering the hospital, Mr. McCarty officially named Theodore P. Meade. Washington, Republican, newly-elected prosecutor, as his deputy. It is expected Meade will continue in service without change until he takes office.
Mr. McCarty was recognized as an able attorney and was a noted historian of Martin county. His wife dird about a year ago. Surviving are a son, Charles McCarty, Boston, Mass., and a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Force, New Orleans.
It is expected that the November term of Davies circuit court will recess the day of the funeral, permitting members of the bar to attend the rites in a body.
