W.C.HASTINGS JR.1993 WHARTON - W.C. "Bill" Hastings Jr., 81, of Wharton, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997. He was born April 2, 1916, in Southerland Springs, to the late Walter C. and Dora King Hastings. He was a World War II veteran. He graduated from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Texas in Austin in 1939. He was a retired pharmacist, having worked at Rugeley Drug Store in Wharton for many years and later worked as a relief pharmacist for Wharton Drug Store, Gulf Coast Medical Center and other drug stores in nearby towns. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors: wife, Floris LaDuke Hastings; sons, Bob Hastings of Katy of Bill Hastings of Victoria; sisters, Lucille Cure of Nixon and Velma Massey of Port Lavaca; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Wharton, the Rev. William E. Jenkins officiating. Wharton Funeral Home, Wharton, (409)532-3410.
