Zelma Haithcoat BENTON - Zelma Haithcoat, 80, of Route 2 died at 6:40 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 1989, in Severin's Intermedi ate Care Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Morton and Johnston Funeral Home, with burial in Swofford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Haithcoat was a homemaker. She was a Baptist. She was born Oct. 29, 1908, in Rend City to William and Martha (Howard) Whitlow. She married James Haithcoat in 1930. He died in 1976. Survivors include two sons, James Haithcoat of Benton and Haskell Haithcoat of North Lake; one daughter, Kay Bullock of Mulkeytown; one sister, Ruth Curry of Sesser; five grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Three brothers and six sisters also preceded her in death.2398

Burial will be in the Swofford Cemetery, near Akin. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Haithcoat died at 12:37 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 1976, in his home. He had been ill three months. He was born Dec. 26, 1903, to Holt and Nancy Smith Haithcoat. He was a lifetime resident of Franklin County. He was a retired farmer. Survivors are his wife, the former Zelma Whitlow; a daughter, Kay Potts of Benton; two sons, James W. of Benton and Haskell of Herrin; a brother, Jessie of Richland, Mich.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.2397
