MARION Bernice Johnston, 71 of Marion, formerly of Campbell, Mo., died at 4:34 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at her home in Marion.

Funeral services will be held at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell, Mo. at 10 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2000. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thurs day at the funeral home. Burial will be in Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton, Mo.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Southern Illinois, 1110 N. Johnson St, Marion, IL 62959. Meredith-Blue Funeral home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Johnston was born on March 1, 1929, in Booneville Miss, to George and Minnie Mae (McCoy) Heathcock. She married Scott Johnston on May 20, 1963, in St. Louis, Mo., and he survives.

Other survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Diann and Albert Dagner of Marion and Darlene and Jack Chamness of Creal Springs; four grandchildren, Teresa Teeslink, Tammy Tlberio, Lana Neeley and Nikki Enfield; ten great-grandchildren; a brother, Orval Heathcock of Campbell, Mo.; and sisters Elowise Vaughn of Campbell and Inease Mackey of Chicago.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a stepmother, Jewll Heathcock, a brother, Edsel Heathcock, a sister, Willidean Collins, and a granddaughter, Monika Schimberg.

Mrs. Johnston was a beautician and was of Baptist faith.
