Bailey Fisher was born in Accomac Co VA about 1740. His father, John Fisher, died in 1743 when Bailey was still a child. In 1756, Bayley and Spencer Fisher, “both orphans of John Fisher, were bound to James Johnson to learn the trade of brick-layer.”2476,2477

p. 262 - 27 Sept. 1758. Ordered that Wm. Beavans, Solomon Bird and Nathaniel Bird Audit & Settle Elizabeth Fisher's Account of her Guardianship on the Estate of Spencer Fisher, Barby (Bayly?) and Solomon Fisher and make return thereof to the next Court.
p. 299 - 30 July 1759. An Inventory and Appraisement of the Estate of Elizabeth Fisher deceased being returned is Admitted to Record. Also records of her Guardianship of Spencer Fisher, of Barly Fisher and Solomon Fisher Orphans being returned is admitted to Record.

It is not known exactly when Bailey Fisher went to Duplin Co NC, but he appears in the Duplin Co records with a deed dated 1771. He is found on several early tax lists in Duplin and Sampson Co (1780, 1783, 1784)
Bailey Fisher is listed in the 1790 Sampson Co NC census, head of a family consisting of himself, two free white males under 16, two free white females, and one slave. Also listed in Sampson Co NC are Southy Fisher and Elijah Fisher.
Bailey Fisher is listed in the 1800 Sampson Co NC census, head of a family consisting of one male 10-15, one male over 45 (presumably Bailey), one female over 45, and two slaves. Also listed is Southy Fisher.
He was likely a brother of Southy Fisher and he is tentatively assigned as the father of Elijah Fisher and Penelope “Penny Fisher”.

Captain Hall is listed on 1779 roster of James Kenan. He is listed in the pension application of Thomas Bullard. Nathan witnessed a deed in Duplin in 1769. Nathan Hall sold 200 acres in 1782 to Bailey Fisher. Nathan is listed in Sampson Co. for the 1810 census. This soldier was born about 1740. This soldier received two pay vouchers.

BALEY FISHER DEED OF GIFT TO HIS DAUGHTER ANN
To all persons to whom there presents have come I Baley Fisher of the County of Sampson & State of North Carolina send greeting Know that I the said Baley Fisher for an in consideration of the nteral love and good will --- And affection which I have and do bare towards my Beloved daughter Anna Fisher an also for the beter maintainance of the said Anny Fisher hath given grants alined and confirme and by these presence do give and and grant align and confirm unto the said Anny Fisher with all and singular my lands and with appertainances there unto blonging and all my hous and hous hold furnature of every kind and also my Stock of all kinds to Excepting the use of the land stock for the support of myself and wife during our natural life time and the reservation of reservations until and of the Said premises and all the said Estate right and title Intrust and prohibit claim and Demand Whatsoever of him the said Baley Fisher of and in to the said ___ or tenement land of premesses With the appertances and demands of Exets trustes conveyances the said premeses only now for the ___ of the said Baley Fisher to have and to hold the said land of premises and houses & house hold furnature stock of all and every kind hereby Give and granted or maintenances or Intended to be given unto the said Anny Fisher her heirs and asines for the only proper use and ___ of her the said Anny Fisher her heirs and assines forever and the said Baley Fisher for himself his heirs executors administrators doth covenant promises – and agree with the said Anny Fisher her heirs and assines by these presence that she shall the said Anny Fisher his heirs and assines shall and dutifully attend ___ of the Baley Fisher and wife henceforth forever thereafter peasibely an quietly have hold occupy and possess and enjoy the said lands, tenements, premises hereby given granted and mention or intended so to be and from all other titles trobles and charges and encumberance Whatsoever had made committed done or suffered by him the said Baley Fisher his heirs Executors administrators or any other person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim by from or unto him or either of there

Notes for Bailey Fisher
Accomac Shire was established in 1634 as one of the original eight shires of Virginia. The shire's name comes from the Native American word Accawmack, meaning "on the other side". In 1642 the name was changed to Northampton by the British, to eliminate "heathen" names in the New World. Northampton was split into two counties in 1663. The northern section assumed the original Accomac name, the southern, Northampton. In 1670, the Virginia Colony's Royal Governor William Berkeley abolished Accomac County, but the Virginia General Assembly re-created it in 1671. The very first Sheriff in the United States, William Stone, was appointed to serve Accomack County in 1634.2480
