John L. Hathcock, 88. died at Shady Oaks Rest Home Friday at 10:45 p.m. after a long illness. He had lived at 1126 Cedar here. Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Kiker - Warren Chapel with the Rev. Aubrey McAuley, retired Baptist pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park with Kiker-Warren Funeral Home in charge. Born Jan. 28, 1878 in Palestine, he was married to Hallye Payne June 22, 1910 in Olney. He moved here in 1931 and owned and operated a barber shop before his retirement 10 years ago. He was a member of University Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. Surviving are a son, Payne Hatchcock; one daughter, Joy E. Ponder (Mrs. Russell Ponder) who is a teacher in El Paso.2777
