Ira Calvin Conner, 65-year-old native of Duncan, died Friday at the McDowell Hospital after a brief illness. His home was 1404 East Almeria road.

Born March 18, 1884, Mr Conner had long claimed to be the first white child born in Duncan.

For 30 years he was an employee of the Southern Pacific Railroad, working out of Lordsburg, N. M. He retired about a year ago. Mr. Conner was a life member of Lordsburg Lodgs 30 of the Free and Accepted Masons. He was a member of the El Zaribah Shrine in Phoenix.

Survivors are his wife, Grace E.; a daughter, Mrs. Albert Posner, Torrance, Calif.; five sons, Calvin, Los Angeles. Calif., Alfred, Culver City, Calif., Edward, San Francisco, Calif.; U. L., Silver City, N, M., and Ira M., Phoenix; five sisters, Mrs. Minnie Harden, Lordsburg, Mrs. Charles Lindsey, Los Angeles, Mrs. Emma Ballard, Duncan, and Lila Dunagan and Mrs Mary Maddox, both of Anamos, N. M.; a brother, Henry, Santa Monica, Calif.; and 13 grandchildren.
