“ELIZABETH WILLIAMS, the wife of SAMUEL HENDERSON (father of Judge Richard Henderson) was the grand-daughter of JOHN WILLIAMS and his wife MARY KEELING, and the daughter of NATHANIEL WILLIAMS. She was the niece of Judge JOHN WILLIAMS of Nut Bush and WILLIAMSBORO.”

Samuel Henderson was born in Hanover Co VA and married Elizabeth Williams there in 1732. After having five children in Hanover Co, they moved to Granville Co NC in about 1740, where they had six more children. Samuel Henderson was Sheriff of Granville County from 1754 through 1756.3043
The same set of children is given family history published by Lucy Henderson Horton in 1922.703 As authority, Mrs. Horton cites a “manuscript written by Thomas Henderson of Mt. Penson, now in the hands of Thomas McCorry, attorney at law, Jackson, Tenn.” Mrs. Horton’s book gives brief bios of each of Samuel Henderson’s eleven children.
