Bartlett was the nephew of John and Jane Goodbread Henson, son of Jesse and Mary Polly Goodbread Henson. This is his court affidavit concerning the legality of John and Jane Goodbread Henson's wedding.
TRANSCRIPTION: I, Bartlett Henson, of the County of Marshall and State of Kentucky do solemnly swear; That I was personally acquainted with John Henson dec'd, late of the State of Illinois, as also with his widow, Jane Henson: That they were Husband and Wife and lawfully married, I am entirely satisfied. For although I was not at the wedding, yet the fact was one of so much notoriety, that there remains not a doubt but that they were married, and raised a family of children; That the said John Henson dec'd was a brother of Jesse Henson, one of my present neighbors, and that the wives of the two were sister; to the best of my knowledge and belief, so help me God.

Sworn and subscribed before me, an acting Justice of the Peace within and for the County of Marshall and State of Kentucky, this 20th day of July 1842.
