Josephine Monroe, former Hospital Employee, Dies
EAST MOLINE – Mrs. Josephine Rebecca Monroe, 81, who resided with a son, Ralph Williams, 1101 1/2 16th Ave., East Moline. died at 1 Saturday aternoon in Moline Public Hospital where she had been confined 16 days. Mrs. Monroe was formerly employed at the East Moline State Hospital.
Funeral will be at 2 tomorrow afternoon in Wendt Bros. Funeral Home of East Moline. The Rev. David Goodwin, pastor of Watertown Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Hampton Cemetery. Mrs. Monroe was born at Baldwin. Miss., July 24. 1872, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dixon Heathcock. She had resided In East Moline for the last 30 years and for the last 10 years at 1101 1/2 16th Ave. She married Richard Williams who died in 1917. She later married Joe Monoe in Rock Island in 1920. He died in 1922.
Survitors include the son, Ralph; a daughter, Mrs. Frank Wolfe, Moline and a son, Edward Williams, Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Charles Heathcock, Kentucky and a brother Malvin Heathcock Missouri; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, one brother and one sister.
