Brown Funeral Held Sunday

Funeral services for George Timothy Brown, 80, were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30, from the Methodist Church, with Rev. W. B. Hicks in charge.

Mr. Brown was one of Wellington's well known citizens, having operated the Brown Hotel on West Avenue for many years. During this time he had made lasting friendships with persons from all walks of life. During his entire stay here he had operated this hotel.

Ill for several weeks, he died Saturday morning at 1:30. Death resulted from heart trouble. Mr. Brown was born March 11, 1857 in Mississippi, and was eighty years, three months and one day of age. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Hattie Brown, of Wellington; one son, Claude Brown of Vlctorville, California; one daughter, Mrs. Bettie Green of Eldorado, Oklahoma. Twenty one grandchildren also survive.

Pall bearers were George Redford, John Wylie Savage, H. H. Tilford, R. L. Robinson, W. M. King and W. P. Davis.

Music included the organ processional by Mrs. Luther Gribble, and songs by the choir, "Rock of Ages“ "Jesus, Lover of My Soul," and "Nearer My God to Thee."

Interment was in the Wellington Cemetery with the Ellis Funeral Home in charge.

Cause of death, Pneumonia. Possibly a victim of the Spanish Flu.

Mrs. Ada Brown, born September 12, 1858, died of pneumonia January 20, 1919, at the family home south of town about four miles. Deceased was the wife of G. T. Brown and was highly esteemed by all who knew her. She leaves a husband, one son and two daughters, and a host of friends and relatives to mourn her death.3645
