Funeral services for Col. Isaac Read King Jr., 85, of Lexington were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.

King, a retired colonel with the U.S. Army, died April 7, 1999 at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was a native of Tennessee, and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He leaves his wife, Elizabeth Beall King of Lexington; three daughters, Betty Forbes of Wilmette, 111., Sarah Kerr of Athens, Tenn., and Tallulah Bryant of Slidell, La.; a brother, Louis King of Lexington; a sister, Malissa Temple, of Lexington; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The Rev. Bob Welch officiated with Southern Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 108 Church Street, Lexington, or to a charity of one's choice.

Elizabeth Watkins Beall King, 88, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Homeplace of Columbus.

Visitation will be today at Southern Funeral Home in Lexington from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Mrs. King was born to Tallulah (Lipscomb) and Benjamin Stigler Beall, Jr. of Holmes County. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lexington.

She is survived by daughters, Betty Forbes of Wilmette, IL, Sarah Kerr of Flagler Beach, FL and Tallulah Bryant of Columbus, MS; brother, Benjamin Stigler Beall, III of Easton, MD; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Colonel Isaac Read King, Jr.
