According to a family tradition, Reuben Baker was a traveling preacher who was staying in temporary accomodations a few doors away from where Carolyn Hunt lived. The affair produced Vinnie but the couple were not married. In fact, Reuben was engaged to his future wife Elizabeth Forkner; he married her in Dec 1894, about 18 months after Vinnie was born.
Mrs. Casey Dies at Daughters Home3741 Mrs. Callie Carolyn Casey, 77, died Tuesday, August 3 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Kermit Cone, on Rt. 3 Hanceville.
A native of Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Marion Hunt. Survivors include four sons, William and C. C. Casey, Rt. 3 Hanceville, W. B. Casey, Rt. 1 Hanceville, Harvey Casey, Gardendale; two daughters, Mrs. Escol Roden, Cullman, Mrs. Cone; seven sisters, Mrs. Linda Boyd, Mrs. Ida Hastings, Mrs. Winnie Miller, Rt. 2 Altoona, Mrs. Della Harper, Villa Rica, Ga., Mrs. Lennie Cooper and Mrs. L. E. Nash, Rt. 4 Boaz, Mrs. Lizzie Ashworth, Gadsden; thirty grandchildren; thirteen greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services were held August 8 in Hopewell Baptist Church, Hanceville, the Revs. Harvey Edwards and B. B. Walker officiating.
