'Carp' Carpenter Rites Set Tuesday In Tyler3961 Services for Ferman C. "Carp" Carpenter, 76, Tyler, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lloyd James Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Jay Lockhart officiating.
Burial will be in Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Carpenter died bunday morning in a Tyler hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born Aug. 11, 1915, in Canton and lived in Tyler most of carpenter his life. He served during World War II as a captain in the U.S. Army in Europe, receiving two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He was a retired captain of the Texas Highway Patrol (Department of Public Safety) and an honorary Texas Ranger. He was a member of West Erwin Church of Christ and an elder for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Carpenter, Tyler; one son, Ferman L. Carpenter, Mesquite; three daughters, Nancy Cecille Wiggains and Angel Gregory, both of Tyler, and Sylvia Carpenter, Mesquite; one brother, Litt Carpenter, Nacogdoches; one sister, Mattie Mae Beall, Canton; and 11 grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Luke Carpenter, Matthew Carpenter, Jeremy Wiggains, Justin Wiggains, Lowell Wiggains and Mark Gregory.
Family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral borne.
