James Russell Love4111 Our husband, father, and grandfather, James Russell Love, passed away January 29, 2001. He was born on December 7, 1923, to Joseph Winifred Brazleton Love and Ruth Woodside Love In Rio Honda, Texas.
The family moved to Austin in 1926, where he remained except for the time that he spent serving in the Army during World War II. He was wounded in France and received the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anita White Love; their children, Gary and Nancy Love of Austin, Janet and Clifford Wood of San Marcos, and Marilyn and Brian Dickerson of Leonardtown, Maryland. There are five wonderful grandchildren, Christopher Wood, Rebekah Wood, Martha Love, Emily Love, and Christy Dickerson. He is survived also by his sisters, Marjorie Francis and husband, Charles, Dorothy Evans and husband, Melvin, Betty Hammans; brother, Bruce Love and wife, Rosa; cousins, Stanton and Margaret 1 Glazener, sisters-in-law, Joyce Priddy; Fran and husband, Todd Miller; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Russell was a loving husband and father and will be dearly missed by his family.
He was a longtime member of the University Baptist Church. He was a Sunday school teacher, was active as deacon and worked in numerous other capacities in the church. He was active in Parent Teacher Association in Austin and actively involved in the Cub Scout and Boy Scout program for many years.
While in the army he attended Texas A&I in Kirigsvllle. He received a BA degree from the University of Texas and worked in the moving business during his career.
