Funeral services for Robert P. Sauzek Sr., 61, of Vandenberg Village will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Statbuck Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Verne Nesbitt officiating. Military graveside rites will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr. Sauzek was bom Feb. 16, 1921, in Wichita, Kan., and died Wednesday at the Letterman Army Medical Center at the Presidio, San Francisco. A World War II and Korean War veteran, he was a retired major after 20 years with the U.S. Air Force. He had lived in Lompoc since 1963 where he was the owner of the Village Arco service station in Vandenberg Village and Craftco in Lompoc.

He was a member of Valley Chapel and was active in the community through the Kiwanis Club, where he was a past president and past lieutenant governor.

Survivors include his wife, Jan, of the home address; two daughters, Sheila J. Nicholson and Kay L. Walsh, both of Camarillo, two sons, Robert P. Sauzek II and Mike E. Sauzek, both of Lompoc; a brother, Gus E. Sauzek of Kansas; and seven grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary Chapel on Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sansum Medical Clinic for Diabetes Research, 317 West Pueblo. Santa Barbara 93105.

Services for Geneva "Jan" Sauzek, 83, of Casa Grande, Ariz., and formerly of Lompoc, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2004, at the chapel of . Starbuck-Lind Mortuary with Rev. Doug Conley of New Life Christian Center officiating. Burial follows at Lompoc . Cemetery.

Jan was born Dec. 26, 1920, in West Plains, Mo., to Elijah and Alice Sinclair Henry. She moved to Lompoc in 1970 from England where her husband was stationed with the U.S. Air ,. Force. She managed the ceramic shop at Vandenberg for 16 years and more recently was a teacher's aide for 14 years at New Life Christian Academy. A former member of the Lompoc Kiwanianne's, Alpha Club and the Officer's Wives Club at Vandenberg, Jan especially enjoyed working with ceramics and collecting dolls.

She died Saturday, April 24, 2004, in Casa Grande, Ariz.

Survivors include her daughters, Sheila Morgan, of Todd, N. C, and Kay Terranova, of Seaside, Ore.; sons, Robert P. Sauzek II, of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Mike E. Sauzek, of Aurora, Colo.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob.

Visitations are from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the mortuary.
