Lillian Braziel Gilchrest, age 91, of Gatesville, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., July 12, 2009, at the Gatesville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. M.V. Hemphill officiating. Burial followed at Restland Cemetery.
Lillian was born on July 8, 1918, in Coryell County, Texas to the late J.L. (Lige) and Dollie Love Braziel. She attended school in Gatesville. Lillian married Louie Gilchrest on June 9, 1934, and he preceded her in death in 1987. She was a very hard-working lady and worked for many cleaners in the area. Lillian worked in the laundry department of Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center for over 30 years.
Lillian is survived by daughters, JoAnn Persinger, Anita Lofland and husband, Leon, and Vina Morro and husband, Lou; sons, Harry and Larry Gilchrest; sisters, Ruby Gilchrest and Edith Campbell; 28 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 53 great-great-grandchildren; four great-great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special longtime friend, Mary Gonzales.
