Sam F. Powell Sr., 79, of 1024 North Forty-fourth Street died at 1:30 p. rn. Monday in a local hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Compton-Waltrop Funeral Chapel, Dr. Floyd E. Johnson and Dr. Edward R. Rarcus officiating,
Mr. Powell was bosrn in Oglesby and had been a member of the Oglesby Baptist Church since 1906. He was a rancher and building contractor. Most of his contracting work was done in Coryell and McLennan Counties, He had lived in Waco for the past 15 years.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters. Miss Jeanette Powell of 1024 North Forty-fourth Street and Mrs. W. R. Easier of 1112 North Forty-fourth Street; five sons, Harold S. Powell of 2324 Wendy Lane, M. C. Powell of 4101 North Thirtieth Street, Ramsey Powell of 3105 Lyle Avenue, Sam E. Powell Jr. of St. Louis, Miss., Joe F. Powell of Houston; one sister, Mrs. Henry Hanover of Portales, N. M ; 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
