Ellie was born to Joseph William and Fanny Whiddon on February 7, 1921, in Markham TX. He passed away on July 15, 2007 in Pensacola, FL.
While serving as an aerial photographer in the United States Marine Corps, he met' and married Maxie Holland Whiddon of Pensacola in 1943. Following his Marine Corps duty, they returned to Pensacola and lived for 13 years. During that time Ellie served at First Presbyterian Church in many capacities as a lay volunteer, particularly in the area of youth ministry.
Feeling a call to ministry, he went to seminary in 1956 and became a Presbyterian minister serving various Presbyterian Churches (USA) throughout the south.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxie, of 61 years.
He is survived by his sister, Joan Whiddon Dickerson of Bay City, TX, and one brother, William Roger Whiddon of Decatur, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service of worship will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at First Presbyterian Church, 33 E. Gregory Street, Pensacola, FL, 32502. The Reverends Randon Jackson and Roger Nicholson will officiate. The family will greet worshippers in the parlor following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church.
