He married Mary Ann Whatley in Georgia and had many children. See below.....
He moved from Georgia with his family to Rusk County, Texas around 1849. He and his family where early settlers in this area and where very active in local affairs. They lived near the Strong Cemetery and it was named for his family. See historical marker photo...........
Three of his sons served in the Confederate army in Texas units. Sherwood W. and George Seaborn served in Co. "I", 7th Texas Infantry and where captured at Ft. Donelson, Tennessee in February, 1862. Imprisoned at Camp Douglas, Chicago, Illinois, Sherwood died there of pneumonia and passed away on April 4, 1862. He is listed on the monument on the Confederate mound, mass burial site.
George was exchanged in Vicksburg and had a hero’s career fighting in the Confederate Army. Fought in many battles and made it from private to 3rd sergeant. Lucky to be alive he was discharged from the army on November 20, 1864 because of "his tender age of 17". He was actually 18 at this time. He had done his duty.5018
