Lowrey came from a newspaper family. His father, "Grandpa Foster," had started the Aransas Gazette at Rockport, Texas. Lowrey himself owned the Williamson County Sun with partners George Keahey, Howard Harrison Sr., and Dr. John R. Allen.

Notes for Grace Perle (Spouse 1)
Grace was engaged to Arthur Lay, younger brother to Jesse Lee Lay. The engagement apparently broke off and Grace married Lowrey Foster in April, 1908. Virginia Lay was given the bracelet that Arthur had given Grace for their engagement.244

Both Arthur Lay and his younger brother Jesse Lee Lay worked for the Armour Packing Company in Fort Worth. In February 1909, Arthur fell into a vat of boiling water and died.

Her name was sometimes spelled “Pearl” but it was rendered as “Perle” on two important government documents, her marriage index245 and her death certificate (see multimedia file for this entry).
