Notes for George Bell Jr.
NB Clayton Heathcock, 2 Feb 2011: There is really solid evidence that this George Bell Jr. was really the son of George Bell Sr., whose first wife was Hester Webster. The 1702 will by George Bell Sr. mentions a wife Joyce, a son George (Jr.) and a daughter Elizabeth. However, there is no record of which I am aware that definitely proves that this George Bell Sr. was the same man who was married to Heather Webster and who immigrated in about 1645.

George Bell Jr. witnessed the will of Francis Hobbs in 1687. In 1688 he was a legatee of Alexander Webster and he was living in Isle of Wight Co as late as 24 Jan 1742, when he, together with Roger Allen, presented an account of the estate of Thomas Allen.479
George Bell made his will in Edgecombe Co VA December 21, 1751, probated in February, 1752. In this will, he named sons Arthur, George and William, daughter Elizabeth Ffloyd, granddaughter Mary Bell. The executors were Francis Ffloyd and Arthur Bell. Witnesses were William Pertis, Thomas Bell and Thomas Ffloyd.479
A listing for the death of George Bell Sr., planter, appears in the Edgecombe Co NC Vital Records, 1720-1880, a compilation of records originally derived from a book entitled “Early Families of Edgecombe County, North Carolina, Its Past and Present,” published by the Tarboro Society for Genealogy and Biography in 1881.457 Listed children are Arthur, George, William and Elizabeth.
