Notes for Jacob S. Fisher
It has been difficult to locate primary records for Jacob F.Fisher.

He was mentioned in the will of his father Elijah Fisher that was probated in 1838 and the following year, in a further action with regard to Elijah’s estate:

1839 HINDS Circuit Court Records441
PAGE 214-215+101 175th CASE
Plaintiff Thaddeus Benedict, adminstrator for Josiah H. Benedict, deceased
Defendants Almand Robbins and Jacob Fisher, adminstrators for Elijah Fisher,
deceased

In the 1840 census of Hinds Co MS, he is probably the 20-30 year old male listed with his widowed mother, Elizabeth Fisher.

The 1850 census of Washington Co MS has a listing for Jacob Fisher, 35, m, w, b MS, who was an overseer, listed with Planter John A. Miller. It is not known if this was Elijah’s son. However, in both the 1850 and 1860 census of Hinds Co MS, listed with or immediately adjacent to David D. Fisher’s family was a Miller woman and young children. The Miller woman, Ann Miller, is probably sister of David Fisher’s wife Margaret Graham. It is noteworthy that, although no husband is listed with this family in either the 1850 or 1860 census, twin daughters were born to Ann Miller in 1851. Possibly Ann Miller’s husband was the planter John A. Miller, for whom Jacob Fisher was oversear in 1850.

Jacob Fisher is listed in the 1837 and 1838 Tax Roll of Hinds Co MS.

Between 1848 and 1857, Jacob Fisher made several reports to Judge A. B. Davney on the Elijah Fisher estate. Following is the final such report:541
