On June 13, 1777 Priscilla (Precella) Bell of Edgecombe Co. sold to Robert Pyland for 40 pounds a tract of 74 acres on the north side of Swift Creek, it being part of a tract granted to Thomas Bell on June 20, 1749. Witnesses were W. S. Mearns, Arthur Arrington, Jr. and William Sandeford. Priscilla was apparently the daughter of Thomas Bell478 and Robert Pyland was her brother-in-law, husband of her sister Caroline Bell.889
