Louis Hathcock was born at Pocahontas, Coffee Co TN about 1841. He enlisted in the 44 TN Infantry Regiment at Bowling Green, Kentucky  October 1861. Louis was sent to Corinth, Mississippi where he fought in the Battle of Shiloh April 6-7, 1862.  The regiment was sent to Kentucky where Lewis fought in the Battle of Perryville October 30, 1862. Lewis’ regiment was sent to Murfreesboro, TN where Lewis fought in the Battle of Stone¹s River December 31, 1862 - January 3, 1863. He was wounded and laid on the battlefield 24 hours before being removed. When Bragg was withdrawing his army from Murfreesboro to Tullahoma, Lewis was carried and left at his father’s home near Beech Grove, Coffee Co TN to recover. He laid on his back for several months and was discharged from service.960
