Mr. and Mrs. Charles Richard Sayre announce the engagement of her daughter, Billie Carol Litton, to Rogers Howell Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Haddon Manly Clark of Elizabethtown, North Carolina.

The wedding is planned for Saturday, December 21, at St. John's Methodist Church in Greenwood.

Miss Litton is the daughter of the late Colonel William Powell Litton of Shaw. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. John Calvin Akin of San Antonio, Texas, and the late Mr. Akin; and of Mrs. William Ellihu Litton of Shaw, and the late Mr. Litton.

She attended Lausanne School for Girls in Memphis, and was graduated with highest honors from Greenwood High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the debate team and of the Belles Club. The bride elect will obtain her degree in Liberal Arts, a psychology major, in January from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia.

Miss Litton was Maid of the Greenwood Cotton Ball and was presented to society with the 1961-62 Delta Debutante Club in Greenville.

Mr. Clark "is the grandson of the late Rev. and Mrs. David James Clark of Elizabethtown, and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Giles Leitch Robertson of Roland, North Carolina.

He was graduated from Elizabethtown High School and received his degree in Business Administration from East Carolina College, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Mr. Clark is a Mason and second-lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve. The groom-elect is associated with Clark Brothers Inc. and is sales . manager of Sampson-Bladen Oil Company Inc. in Elizabethtown.

CLINTON, N.C. — Services for Billie Carollitton Clark, 53, who died of cancer Thursday, Aug. 1, 1996, at her Clinton, N.C, home, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Clinton, N.C.

Mrs. Clark, a Baxter County, Texas, native, was a teacher. She had worked for 27 years in North Carolina schools.

She graduated from Greenwood High School. She attended Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Va., and earned a master's degree in early childhood development from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Mrs. Clark received the Clinton City Schools Teacher of the Year award in 1992.

She was a former Sunday school teacher at Elizabethtown Baptist Church, where she established a preschool program. She later worked in the preschool program at First Baptist Church in Clinton.

Survivors include her husband, Rogers H. Clark of Clinton, N.C; a daughter, Heather Clark Warren of Raleigh, N.C; two sons, R, Howell Clark Jr. and John Litton Clark, both of Clinton, N.C; her stepfather, Dr. Charles R "Jerry" Sayre of Greenwood; a brother, William Powell Litton Jr. of Greenwood; two sisters, Hesta Litton Spessard of Roanoke, Va., and Peggy Litton Quinn of Senatobia; and a grandson.

Dr. Jerry M. Wallace and Dr. David S. Kolb will officiate. Burial will be in Elizabethtown City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Royal-Hall Funeral Home in Clinton, N.C.
