Gerald Whaley age 88 of Cumberland, VA passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014 in Farmville, with family at his bedside.
He was a retired farmer and served his country in the United States Army.
He was born may 23rd, 1926 to the late James and Sally Whaley. He was preceded in death by his wife Ada H. Whaley.
He is survived by two sons; Gerald Lynn Whaley,(significant other Lynda Worsham) of Goochland,Ernest William Whaley (Magaret) of Cumberland, three daughters; Martha Diane Hedrick (Ralph) of Prince Edward, Karen Ann Ridenour (Terry) of Tenn, Sharon E. Franklin (Allen) of Cumberland, three sisters; Evelyn Hardiman (Lynburg) of Dillwyn, Wanda Sue Mundy (Peter) of West Point, Christine Sloan of Cumberland, ten grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 7:00PM in the chapel of Shorter Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM – 7:00PM prior to service on Wednesday. A graveside service will be Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 11:00AM in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice, VA.
