Battle Creek C. Jean (McRae) Reitz 72, a lifelong Battle Creek resident, died Saturday August 17, 2002 at her residence.

Jean was born November 20, 1929, in Battle Creek, the daughter of the late William Ernest McRae and Alma J. (Smith) McRae Baker. She was a 1947 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School.

In 1990, Jean retired from Roney & Company. She was previously employed by Gage Printing, the Williams House Hotel, Michigan Gravure for ten years and Mueller Color Plate for ten years.

She was married in Miller Chapel of First Congregational Church, January 6, 1951, to Robert L. Reitz, he survives.

She is also survived by a daughter, Linda J. (Steve) Evans of Battle Creek, sons, Jeffrey D. (Leandra) Reitz of Battle Creek, Gregg R. (Mary) Reitz of Midland, five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and her twin brother, Marion E. McRae of Hernando, Florida.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church, where she formerly taught Sunday school and was a member of the 23rd Circle. Jean was a member and volunteered for the former Community Hospital Auxiliary and Battle Creek Health System Auxiliary, was a member of the Typographical Union Auxiliary, enjoyed sewing, camping, traveling and loved being with her family.

Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where the family will receive friends 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2002, with Rev. Dr. David D. Young and Rev. Dr. David H. Graham officiating. Interment in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorials to the First Congregational Church, Battle Creek Health System Auxiliary or Good Samaritan Hospice Care.
