Miss Rita Carol Wells and Ronald Eugene Ashcraft were united in marriage by the Rev. Gaylord Hamilton on July 23 at 7:30 p.m. in Calvary Baptist Church of Highland.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wells of 8314 Gordon Dr.. Highland, and Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Ashcraft of Schererville, Route 1.

Mrs. Robert Robbms of Allegan. Mich., was the soloist.

The bride wore an entrained gown of nylon Chantilly lace and acetate satin and a seed pearl headpiece with a fingertip veil of French illusion. She carried white stephanotis, Sweetheart roses and a white orchid.

OMBRE LILAC nylon chiffon over lilac taffeta gowns and matching headpieces were worn by the maid of honor, Miss Janet Keller, and the bridesmaids, Mrs. Jack Verkes and Miss Diane Ashcraft. They carried lilac and white carnations.

Glen Ashcraft, the bridegroom's brother, served as best man. The ushers were Charles Wells and Floyd lddings.

One hundred and fifty guests attended the reception, after which the newlyweds took a trip to Toronto. Canada. They are making their home at 7618 Manor Ave., Munster.

The bride graduated from Griffith High School and Ball State Teachers College and teaches second grade in Munster. Her husband, a 1955 graduate of Dyer High School, is a machinist apprentice at Youngs-town Sheet & Tube Co.

Ronald E. Ashcraft, 61, of Dyer, passed away Friday, December 18, 1998. Survived by spouse, Rita (nee Wells); children: Kelly (Jerry) Lambert, Matthew (Christine) Ashcraft and Beth Ann Ashcraft; grandchildren, Sara Ashcraft and Jacob Lambert; brothers, Carl (Martha), Dean (Judy), Jerry (Hy), Glen (Evelyn); sisters, Maralee (John) Coburger and Diane Richied; brother-in-law Charles (Pam) Wells; sister-in-law, Judy (Richard) Dickover, numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Elmore and M. Gladys (nee Marvel) Ashcraft, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 22, 1998 (time pending) at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 1920 Hart St, Dyer, IN, with Rev. David Schrader officiating. Burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Visitation Monday 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Hammond, ATA Trap Shooting Hall of Fame or Hospice of the Calumet Area.

Ron was retired from LTV Steel in January 1998 with 42 years of service. He was an avid golfer, hunter and trap shooter winning many state and national titles and member of Indiana Trap Shooting Hall of Fame. Member of the First United Methodist Church, Hammond; and former member of St. John Lions Club.
