Notes for Willie Eugene Lay
Eugene Lay, son of Rev. Mose Lay & Maude (Stallions) Lay, was born February 4, 1935 in Pope County, Illinois.

He departed this life Thursday morning, June23, 2005 at 10:35 AM at his home in Delwood, IL.

At the time of his passing, Eugene had attained the age of 70 years, 4 months & 19 days.

Eugene was united in marriage to Gloria Jean (Wallace) on December 15, 1956 in Harrisburg, IL. She preceded him in death on January 18, 2004.

Survivors include: 3 Daughters: Patty & her husband, Melvin Jeffords, Jr., of Dixon Springs, IL, Pam Sellers of Glendale, IL, & Penni Taber of the Delwood community; 6 Grandchildren: Jeremy & April Hogg, Melvin Jeffords III & Rebecca Angelly, Aaron Jeffords & Emma Benard, Ashley Hutchison, Priscilla Sellers & Sydney Taber; 3 Great Grandchildren: Kennadi Jean Jeffords, Rylee DeVonne Hogg, & Kane Scott Jeffords; 2 Sisters: Evanell Brent of Stonefort, IL & Floetta & J.C. Barger of the Delwood community; Nieces & Nephews.

In addition to his Parents & Wife, Eugene was preceded in death by: a Daughter, Paula Hutchison; 2 Brothers, Joe Lay & Van Lay; 4 Half-Sisters - Nell Tucker, Beryl Murphy, Velma Stallions, & Beulah Wickham; and 2 Half-Brothers - Clive Lay & Rue Lay.

Eugene was a Mechanic & Operator of Heavy Equipment for various construction companies. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #318.

Eugene was a member of the Cedar Bluff Social Brethren Church. He especially enjoyed spending time with his Grandchildren. Eugene was a shade tree mechanic.

Eugene leaves his family & many dear friends to cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, June 25, 2005 at 11 AM at the Cedar Bluff Social Brethren Church, near Delwood. Burial will be in the Boulden Cemetery, west of Eddyville, IL.

Friends may call Friday evening from 6 PM â€" 9 PM at the Cedar Bluff Social Brethren Church. Memorials may be made to the Boulden Cemetery, c/o Kay Peppersack, Rt. 1, Box 170A, Simpson, IL 62985.
