James Gaston McKenzie lived in San Simeon, Cochise Co Arizona on June 5, 1917, when he applied for WWI draft card. He claimed exemption on the basis of heart trouble. In his application he described himself as a single stock-raiser, living in the San Simeon Valley.
26His date of birth is given as 27 Jan 1895 on a family tree found in the Luling TX Library.
1965My dad recalls having seen an old photo of James McKenzie riding a horse (or next to one) that was in Mary Belle's possession - he was a very tall man and good looking, dark hair. He thinks my grandfather has some of Mary Belle's items, so I'm most definetly going to go asking and searching now. Her husband was a very rich many owning ranches (that most likely had oil on them) and she was able to live at the Menger Hotel when she got older and didn't want to care for a house.

Following from Arlene Riley:
1960“I talked to my Aunt Bug (Naomi Margaret) last evening. She said "Aunt Inez was married to Uncle Jimmy McKinzie first. She had two boys and a girl. Charles is the only one who may still be living, she knows for sure the other two have died and they were older than Charles. (he is the one I met @ Grandma's) Inez lived in Albuquerque , NM most of her adult life. She was remarried after Jimmy died, maybe twice but Bug doesn't know the last names. All three children were with Jimmy. Inez died sometime around 1964. Charles was a teacher but we don't know where. He would be in his 70's or 80's now.
”She said Rebecca died with pneumonia and when she was dying insisted that her children be taken to Buckner's because she did not want her parents to have them. Measles caused her blindness.”
