According to Ladonna Beck, Charlie Joe Chavedo committed suicide in the summer of 1963.1961
Another family member recalled: “I have a page copied from Grandma's Bible that says Uncle Joe died 13 Dec 1962. I was at the funeral and I remember it was really cold that day. He died in Kansas but I don't know the town, his body was brought back to Kelton for burial; there was a picture of him on the coffin and the coffin was not opened. I heard he shot himself in the head with a gun he borrowed from a neighbor. My mother and her sisters went up to the funeral home and were allowed to see him but none of the rest of us did.”1960
