Notes for Audrey Lou (Spouse 1)
Personal account of Audrey Lou Kemper Simpson:1980

My mother, Lila Marie Chavedo, was born February 20, 1916, in Beckham County, Oklahoma. She married Gaylord Wilshire Kemper (my father's brother) on Nov. 10, 1934. That marriage produced three sons, George Wade, Eldon Zane and Karrol Robert Kemper (died in Grapevine, TX. about 14 yrs. ago) , and ended in divorce Apr. 15, 1940, Wheeler County TX.

On July 4, 1943 Lila married my father, William Emory Kemper in Boise City, OK. On May 4, 1944 I was born, Audrey Lou Kemper, in Clayton, NM. On May 6, 1945, my sister, Ruby Sue Kemper, was born in Clayton, NM. On April 11, 1946 my brother, Willie Harold Kemper, was born in Wheeler, TX. (died about 12 yrs ago in Salinas, CA)

In 1949 my parents, and six children, moved to Madera County, CA where cotton grew tall.

June, 1962, I graduated high school in Chowchilla, CA; I moved to Salinas where on Nov 7, 1964 I married spec. 4, Eugene Simpson. Two weeks later we moved our combined belongings (in a very small trailer) to Austin, TX, where his parents and 13 siblings welcomed us. There, on Aug 8, 1966 our son, Nathan Eugene Simpson was born and on Sept. 15, 1969 his sister, Amy Lanette Simpson was born. In 1976 the four of us moved (with a very large trailer) to Durant, OK, where we've all lived (mostly happy) ever after.

I remember my mother and her sisters discussing Aunt Inez (sp. Chavedo or Chavido, Chevido ?), but don't remember ever meeting her and I don't know when she died.

The Kempers have family records dating back to 1635 (Johann Kemper, Musen, Germany). My sister-in-law, Sandi Simpson, is working on our Simpson/White ancestry, back to early 1800's.
