Following from A. J. Stewart, a descendant of Ransom Brewer and Eliza Roney:
My ancestor is Ransom who m first Adeline Woodward (Marengo Co, AL), then Eliza Roney, my gg grandmother.
Ransom and Eliza resided in Clarke Co, MS starting in the 1840s (tax records) and are on the 1860 census in Clarke Co, MS.
I believe she was the daughter of John and Ann Roney (listed as Rona) of Green Co, AL (just above Marengo Co) and m first Joseph Haley before Ransom. (I have never located a marriage record for Ransom and Eliza, however.)

252Marengo County Court Minutes:
• page 109, March Term 1841, Book D. John Gilmore, guardian of Matthew Brewer, a minor, files accounts.
• page 293, March Term 1842. John Gilmore, Jr., exc. est of John Gilmore, Sr., deceased files account.
• page 293, March Term 1842. Cite James and John Gilmore, executers of estate of John Gilmore, deceased, who was guardian of Ranson Brewer.
• Page 322, April Term 1842. Est. Ranson Brewer... Estate settled guardian discharged.
• Page 323, April Term 1842. Estate of Matthew Brewer. Estate appears settled. Guardian discharged.
This might appear to suggest that Ransom Brewer died in about 1842 and left a dependent child named Matthew, who was placed in the guardianship of John Gilmore, Sr., who also died shortly thereafter. However, this interpretation is not in accord with other evidence with regard to Ransom Brewer. Instead, there is evidence that Ransom left his wife Adaline shortly after the birth of their last child in 1843 and married Eliza Roney.
