Notes for William L. Huff
REV. WILLIAM HUFF, FORMERLY OF MEXICO, DIES THURSDAY A. M.2496

Succumbs to Tuberculosis in Moberly After Illness of Several Months.

The Rev. William Huff, for many years a resident of Mexico, died Thursday morning at his residence in Moberly. He had been ill since early last fall and about four months ago it was discovered that he had tuberculosis and could not be cured. He is survived by his wife, three children, Homer, Miss Jennie and Mrs. Nellie Voelker, and two brothers, the Rev. John Huff, of Lafayette, Ind., and Newton Huff, of Hogan. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon in the Baptist church.

The Reverend Huff was born in Alabama, February 23, 1854. In 1880 he came to northern Missouri and located in Mexico where he lived until 1902. During that time he was editor and business manager of the Regular Baptist, a religious publication. He had been ordained as a minister of the Baptist Church before coming here and during his long life he has served many churches.

He moved to Liberty in 1902 and became pastor of four churches, and ten years ago he moved to Moberly where he has continually done pastorial work. In the spring of 1917 he was made editor of the Western Regular Baptist and he continued in that capacity until about two months ago when his health forced him to give up the position. The Reverend Huff had many friends in Mexico who will be grieved to learn of his death. The Ledger joins in extending sympathy to his family.
