2896CHILDREN, as named in the will of their uncle, Dempsey Powell, under date of June 27, 1823, in which he bequeathed to them all the land he owned on Duck River in Bedford County, Tennessee.

Elizabeth POWELL married Robert TEMPLE of Wake Co., NC. They came to Bedford Co. and settled on her division of 201 acres which lay south of Sims Rd. near POWELL Creek School. In 1817, she sold this tract to John SIMS. In 1825, Elizabeth TEMPLE purchased from her brother Jesse POWELL, 349 acres which surveyed out at 363 acres. This included the Bend of Duck River. A Mill was located on the River near the Northwest corner or tract. The Lewis Tillman House was located on this land. This tract was in the 7th Dist. of Bedford Co. Elizabeth & Robert had 3 or mre children: Benjamin, Dempsey P. and Leonard C. TEMPLE. Benjamin married Winifred FRAZIER. Dempsey P. married Mary FRAZIER, daughter of Hugh and Jane FRAZIER and sister of Dr. Preston FRAZIER, John S. FRAZIER and Granville FRAZIER. Cloey and her husband James Fort sold their 265 acres to John STEPHENS. John STEPHENS and members of his family are buried in a Family graveyard on this tract. Also, The Powell Creek (Shake Rag) School was located on this tract. Pattie and her husband sold their 265 acres to Andrew HARTSFIELD.
