Louise "Bobby" Word, 96, of Kyle, Texas, passed away in Austin, Texas, on Tuesday, October 17, 2000.
Born on February 6, 1904, in Taylor, Texas, she was the daughter of Charles and Nancy (Rainwater) Gossett.
Mrs. Word was very active in the Kyle community and worked tirelessly in the organization of the Kyle Library. She was a longtime member of the Friends of the Library, a Girl Scout leader, and an active member of the Kyle First Baptist Church.
Her husband, W.A. "Lex" Word (1982); and a son, Lex Word Jr. (1944); preceded her in death. She is survived by three daughters, Wynette Barton and husband, Bob, of Kyle, Texas, Nancy Word Osgood and husband, John, of Austin, Texas, and Jane Kirkham and husband, Calvin, of Kyle, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jeff and David Barton, John and Charles Osgood, Brenda Osgood Hogan, Lex Kirkham, and Kimberley Kirkham Certain; and eight-great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 19, 2000, at Pennington Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 20, 2000, at the First Baptist Church in Kyle with the Reverend Glen McCoDom officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kyle Community Library, 409 West Blanco, Kyle, Texas 78640.
