The following is from The Schackelford Clan Magazine, Vol. 1, Issue #6, October 1945:507
John Shackelford was a butcher in New Alresford. His will was dated 26 March 1647 and proved in Bishop’s Court, Winchester, 30 March 1647. In this will, John Shackelford mentioned his cousin Richard Shackelford and five children of his cousin John Shackelford, deceased. The five children of the deceased John were:
1. John Shackelford, baptized Old Alresford, 23 December 1647 (sic; probably means 1627)
2. Roger Shackelford, baptized Old Alresford, 23 April 1629
3. Charles Shackelford, baptized Old Alresford, 25 January 1630
4. Christopher Shackelford, baptized Old Alresford, 10 March 1632
5. Ingram Shackelford, baptized Old Alresford, 12 October 1636
Note that the list of children given in this will includes a John Schackelford, b. 23 December 1647, which was after the date the will was written. This was probably an error in copying and should have been 23 December 1627.
