Notes for James Faris Sr.
Delaware Historical and Genealogical Recall Vol 1, issue 2, May 1933:1179

On 3 December 1786, James Faris and Jane his wife of York County, South Carolina, to "our brother Richard Adair", power of attorney to receive one-seventh part of a tract of land at New Castle County, Delaware, formerly belonging to William Adair. Witnessed by William Fearis and Alexander Fearis.

"Brother" meant both literally brother as well as brother-in-law at the time, so presumably James Faris had married Jane Adair who was due one of seven parts of William Adair's estate.
