OBITUARY
(Southern Standard Newspaper, 30 Oct. 1893):

Mr. Jas. W. Mackey, one of our oldest and most highly respected citizens died at his residence, two miles below town, last Monday night. About three years ago Mr. Mackey had a paralyic stroke, and since that time has been in feeble health, unable to get out of the house, most of the time. He had been a citizen of this place thirty years and when he died was in his sixty-eight of age. He was a honest and hard-working man, and was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge at this place. His remains were carried out to the Hadrage Cemetery, four miles from town, and interred beside his wife. Funeral services were held by his old friend, Rev. W.C. Adams. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved widow and children in this their great loss."
