Notes for James Robert Soutar Shaw
My father, James Robert Soutar Shaw was brought up in Tomintoul and left at 18 to join The Gordon Highlanders and fight in the 2nd world war. He was sent to Burma and was a tank driver throughout the war. He was a bit of a poet and wrote very movingly of his home while away. I will scan some for you if that would be of interest?  After the war he trained in Aberdeen as a psychiatric nurse and worked in Carstairs Secure Hospital until his retirement at which point he returned to Tomintoul. The love in his life was fishing and he knew the river Avon like the back of his hand and was never happier than when heading off to catch a salmon.  He was born in 1921 and died in 1998. He was a good man and I miss him very much.3311
Notes for Rosemary (Spouse 1)
My mother was Rosemary Williams. My father met her when he was training in Aberdeen, she too was a nurse. They stayed together until I was 12 then she left and I was brought up by my father. We never really saw her after that but I know she too died around 4 years ago.3311
